Welcome Message from Carol Jenkins, CEO
World Learning believes that the best hope for peace, justice, and sustainability lies in bringing people together. Through cultural immersion, experiential learning, and information sharing, our programs equip others to collaboratively address the most pressing issues of our time.
Throughout my years at World Learning, I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet with many of our participants, partners, and alumni—a global network of learners. Our programs help them understand other cultures, master new skills, and cultivate networks. Our teaching and training methodologies empower them to find locally relevant, sustainable, and implementable solutions. Our approaches emphasize flexibility and adaptability that help them tackle real-world problems. They, in turn, make extraordinary changes in their lives and communities.
Please join us—and those we work with and serve around the world—in our pursuit to create a brighter and better future for all.

Program Description
The Education in Emergencies: Education for Action (3EA) Measurement and Metrics initiative seeks to ensure quality learning for all children by facilitating stakeholders’ ability to demand and invest in, generate, communicate and use evidence to support children’s holistic learning and development in crisis contexts.
Ensuring learning for all children—those displaced by crisis and conflict as well as those in host communities under strain—helps contribute to strong societies.
Since its inception in 2017, the main aim of this program is to develop a social-emotional learning (SEL) tool to measure the SEL of students in Lebanese primary schools. This will allow us to build a robust tool to identify the social-emotional needs of primary school-going children in Lebanon and will help efforts to nurture the needed support at the classroom, pedagogical, and school level as a whole to ensure the acquisition and development of children’s core social and emotional skills.
Program Goals
- Develop, adapt, test and use data from a measure of children's holistic learning and development for national/sub-national monitoring purposes
- Increase the capacity of the 3EA partnership to provide guidance on how to select, adapt and administer measures, and to analyze and communicate the resulting data
- Identify, pilot, collect data, and build DOPS and CERD capacity on a priority set of constructs to be part of the SEL measure development
- Disseminate project research findings
