About Us
Welcome Message from Carol Jenkins, CEOWorld Learning believes that the best hope for peace, justice, and sustainability lies in bringing people together. Through cultural immersion, experiential learning, and information sharing, our programs equip others to collaboratively address the most pressing issues of our time.
Throughout my years at World Learning, I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet with many of our participants, partners, and alumni—a global network of learners. Our programs help them understand other cultures, master new skills, and cultivate networks. Our teaching and training methodologies empower them to find locally relevant, sustainable, and implementable solutions. Our approaches emphasize flexibility and adaptability that help them tackle real-world problems. They, in turn, make extraordinary changes in their lives and communities.
Please join us—and those we work with and serve around the world—in our pursuit to create a brighter and better future for all.

Algerian Women Realizing the Expansion of Access to Community Health
DURATION: 11/01/2025 - 10/31/2027
FUNDER: MSD Community Health Grants
CONTACT: [email protected]
Program Description
Algerian Women Realizing the Expansion of Access to Community Health (Algerian Women REACH) program empowers women in Algeria to actively participate in community-driven health solutions by integrating health knowledge, service delivery, and workforce capacity-building into their economic empowerment initiatives.
Women will identify barriers to healthcare, design community action plans (CAPs), and implement innovative strategies to improve health services, particularly in underserved areas. The program will be administered through World Learning’s Women’s Economic Empowerment WE (2) Design Labs, which use participatory design to engage women as drivers in identifying, addressing, and resolving core economic barriers faced by women. The Women’s Economic Empowerment WE (2) Design Labs will support four community-based design labs specifically focused on health. The participatory approach will teach and empower women to create and implement locally driven solutions to improve access to healthcare, strengthening the overall community healthcare infrastructure.
Program Goals
This project will deliver tangible improvements in healthcare access and workforce development, including:
- Increased access to healthcare for 500 people from four underserved populations, including low-income and displaced people, people living in rural communities, and people with disabilities.
- Strengthened healthcare workforce capacity by the training of 60 women to serve as community health workers and health service entrepreneurs.
- Improved health literacy and knowledge by educating four communities to make better informed health decisions.
- Sustainable health systems impact by equipping four local organizations support community healthcare needs in the long term.
