Program Description
The English for Specific Purposes for Uzbekistan’s Mining Sector program offers practical, industry-specific English training for mining professionals and students of mining science throughout Uzbekistan.
The English for Specific Purposes for Uzbekistan’s Mining Sector program is transforming how mining professionals use English at work and is paving the way for increased international cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan in the strategically important critical minerals industry.
The course blends authentic mining scenarios with modern learning tools, helping professionals at all levels strengthen their English language skills, increase their confidence, and participate more fully in the global mining community.
The program includes a 25-hour, self-paced, Massive Open Online Course tailored to the needs of the mining professionals. The course uses a relatable, story-based approach and technology that keeps learners engaged. And its realistic activities, such as communicating in safety meetings, understanding foreign equipment manuals, talking with international experts, and navigating new technologies, are immediately applicable in the workforce today.
This initiative supports a safer, more connected, and more internationally engaged workforce—ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.
