Rebecca Spotts

Rebecca Spotts is the director of Education at World Learning and oversees the organization’s education development portfolio with a particular emphasis on improving teaching and learning at all levels of the education system and improving youth employment and leadership. In addition, she has expertise in gender equality programming, STEM education in emerging contexts, and building the capacity of civil society organizations through performance based grants management and targeted technical assistance. 

Prior to her work at World Learning, Spotts worked on national education sector reform in Pakistan, studied the role of human rights education and peacebuilding in schooling, researched access to education for girls in rural Liberia, and supported international networks to promote access to education in emergency settings. Throughout her career, Spotts has built the capacity of communities, schools, and policy makers to improve education quality for all with a special emphasis on highlighting opportunities for girls, young women, and other traditionally excluded youth to take leadership roles and excel through education.

Spotts holds a master’s degree in International Education Development with focus on the intersection of Education Policy and Gender from Teachers College, Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from University of Pittsburgh.
