Welcome Message from Carol Jenkins
For more than 90 years, World Learning has equipped individuals and institutions to address the world’s most pressing problems. We believe that, working together with our partners, we can change this world for the better.
On my travels, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many of those who have joined us in this mission. In Baghdad, we’ve trained more than 2,300 Iraqi youth who are already giving back at home. In London, our partners in the TAAP Initiative strongly believe that we are all responsible to practice inclusion. And in Vermont, our Experiment in International Living and School for International Training participants prove every day that they have the tools and the determination to change the world.
Please join us in our pursuit of a more peaceful and just world.

Program Description
BP-STEAM supported Egyptian teachers in developing inclusive and effective STEAM instructional practices.
The Best Practices in STEAM for Egyptian Teachers (BP-STEAM) program’s overarching goal was to prepare students to become skilled problem solvers, ready to contribute to Egypt’s increasingly competitive workforce and 2030 strategic vision. The program benefitted 75 public and private elementary and middle school teachers from the Upper Egypt governorates of Qena, Luxor, and Minya. They completed a 5-day training program focused on applying concepts from Project-based Learning, Content-based Instruction, and Universal Design for Learning to improve student outcomes. The program also benefitted 120 primary school students who participated in lessons that comprised the teacher practicum component of the training program. Approximately 5,250 indirect student beneficiaries also learned from their teachers’ increased motivation, knowledge, and skills.
Program Goals
- Equip 75 teachers with the skills to integrate STEAM pedagogical principles into their elementary and middle school instructional practices.
- Create opportunities for 75 Egyptian educators to exchange ideas with U.S. educators about the challenges and opportunities of interdisciplinary learning.
- Build student interest, knowledge, and motivation to learn STEAM by having 120 primary students participate in hands-on, engaging STEAM lessons.
