Program Description

The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) program offers virtual learning opportunities to foreign English language educators, professionals, and learners worldwide. OPEN promotes mutual exchange of culture and provides free access to teaching and learning materials which can be reused, adapted, and shared with others.

The program is open by nomination only. Interested English language professionals should contact the Public Affairs section of their local U.S. Embassy or their Regional English Language Office for up-to-date information.

Program Goals

  • Build the capacity of English teaching professionals to effectively teach English, train others, disseminate knowledge and positively impact the field of TESOL in their home countries, thereby multiplying the impact of the OPEN Program
  • increase understanding of U.S. society, culture and values and provide opportunities for OPEN participants to share aspects of their culture, society and values with American citizens and participants from other countries
