What We Do
- WHERE WE WORK
Welcome Message from Carol Jenkins
For more than 85 years, World Learning has equipped individuals and institutions to address the world’s most pressing problems. We believe that, working together with our partners, we can change this world for the better.
On my travels, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many of those who have joined us in this mission. In Baghdad, we’ve trained more than 2,300 Iraqi youth who are already giving back at home. In London, our partners in the TAAP Initiative strongly believe that we are all responsible to practice inclusion. And in Vermont, our Experiment in International Living and School for International Training participants prove every day that they have the tools and the determination to change the world.
Please join us in our pursuit of a more peaceful and just world.

The KeyBank Foundation has pledged $30,000 to establish a new scholarship for Vermont-area participants in The Experiment in International Living. Beginning in 2018, The KeyBank Vermont Scholarship will provide financial support for three to five students who are active members of their school community and express a deep interest in global affairs to ensure more students from Vermont have the benefit of a study abroad experience.
“This scholarship program is vital in The Experiment’s effort to cultivate young global leaders that understand diverse perspectives, are innovative, and are ready to address the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that arise in a rapidly changing and increasingly dynamic world,” said Aaron Morehouse, executive director of The Experiment in International Living and vice president of World Learning.
During their Experiment programs, KeyBank Scholars will build leadership and communication skills while exploring another culture through homestays, adventure travel, experiential learning and language immersion. When they come home, students will share their experiences with their communities through special class and local activities, as mentors to new applicants and more.
Beyond traditional banking products and services, KeyBank supports communities through the important work of KeyBank Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1969 and funded by KeyCorp. The Foundation’s mission is to support organizations and programs that prepare individuals for thriving futures and is advanced through three funding priorities – Neighbors, Education and Workforce – and through Community Service. The KeyBank Vermont Scholarship supports the KeyBank Foundation’s core values of Diversity and Inclusion, Transformation, Measurable Impact, and Sustainability.
The Experiment in International Living has been the leader in international education and experiential learning for high school students for more than 85 years. On our three- and four-week high school study abroad programs to 26 countries, students explore the world through hands-on experiences and homestays in local communities through the lens of a specific theme. Each year, hundreds of students come away from The Experiment with invaluable cultural, leadership, language, and college-prep skills that help them thrive in diverse environments.
Today, The Experiment is the flagship program of World Learning Inc. Over the decades, World Learning Inc. has built on The Experiment’s success to become a thriving global organization made up of The Experiment in International Living, School for International Training—which includes SIT Study Abroad and SIT Graduate Institute—and World Learning, a nonprofit that runs our global development and exchange programs.
