WASHINGTON (May 16, 2016)

World Learning welcomes the nomination of Ambassador Mark Green as the next administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“Ambassador Green’s extensive leadership experience in international development makes him an excellent choice for USAID administrator,” said Carol Jenkins, World Learning’s president for global development. “We have had the privilege of working with him and have seen his deep knowledge of development issues first hand. I can think of no better person to lead USAID at this time in our history.”

Green is currently president of the International Republican Institute and served as U.S. ambassador to Tanzania from 2007 to 2009. Before joining IRI he was president and CEO of the Initiative for Global Development. Green also led the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and served four terms in Congress as U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 8th District.

World Learning partners with USAID to implement development programs around the globe aimed at expanding access to quality education, fostering youth leadership, improving economic opportunities, and promoting citizen engagement and good governance.

“We look forward to continuing our vital work with USAID under the direction of Ambassador Green to help create a more prosperous and peaceful world,” said Jenkins.
