WASHINGTON (January 12, 2016)

World Learning was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the organization’s former president and CEO Alfredo Perez.

“Alfredo was instrumental in helping shape the organization into what it is today,“ said World Learning President and CEO Donald Steinberg. “His legacy is an integral part of the organization’s history."

Perez served as president of The Experiment in International Living, which later became known as World Learning, from 1975 to 1977. During his tenure, Perez developed strategic plans, mission statements and long-term goals for the organization. He also brought on Charlie McCormack, who succeeded Perez as president of The Experiment.

Perez was a U.S. Navy veteran and in addition to leading The Experiment served as acting director of the US Peace Corps, deputy CEO of Planned Parenthood, confidential assistant of the U.S. Agency for International Development and senior vice president of management of Family Health International.
