South American Youth Connect with Americans to Improve the Environment

World Learning, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State, will host 15 high school students and three adult mentors from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on a three-week youth exchange program that aims to build leadership skills and promote environmental stewardship.

World Learning Partner Wins Nobel Peace Prize

World Learning is proud to congratulate Indian child labor activist Kailash Satyarthi, who has partnered with SIT Graduate Institute’s Child Labor: Education and Action (CLEA) project, for winning this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. On Friday, The Nobel Committee announced Satyarthi’s joint award with Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”

World Learning will Implement USAID Scholarship Program In Kosovo

The U.S. Agency for International Development has awarded World Learning with a contract to implement the $30 million Transformational Leadership Scholarships and Partnerships Program. The five-year program aims to help train a new generation of Kosovar leaders to drive significant change in priority economic, political, and social areas.

"Experiment" in High Gear

The Experiment in International Living, the founding program of World Learning, announced today its summer plans and programs reflecting growing interest among young people in meaningful summer abroad programs focused on global issues such as the environment and human rights. The Experiment is unique in that it provides an authentic home stay, language training and practical experience in communities abroad. This summer 480 Experimenters will travel from the United States to 20 countries around the world, including Spain, France and Mexico, as well as less traditional locations like Mongolia, South Africa and Ecuador.

World Learning Awarded MacArthur Foundation Grant

World Learning has been awarded a three-year, $200,000 grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to provide opportunities for young men of color living in Chicago to spend a summer abroad with The Experiment in International Living’s new Leadership Institute. The Experiment is the founding program of World Learning, a nonprofit organization advancing leadership in more than 60 countries through education, exchange, and development programs.

SIT Graduate Institute today announced the appointment of Bruce W. Dayton, Ph.D., as the new executive director of the Conflict Transformation Across Cultures (CONTACT) Program. Dayton has more than twenty years of experience in peacebuilding and conflict transformation and comes to SIT from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University where he is a faculty member.
