Each of STAR Network's Regional
Advisory Board members currently participates in one of the
two regional working groups. The groups meet intensively during
Board meetings, conducting a critical assessment of the economic
and political situation in each country and in the region. Members
propose activities and regional expertise exchanges, plan conferences
and seminars, and broker links between STAR Network and other regional
initiatives such as UNIFEM and the Gender Task Force of the Stability
Pact. Board members undertake specific responsibilities for project
implementation and engage intensively in long-term planning of STAR
Network regional and country-specific programs.
Expert advisors and guest speakers from Central and Eastern Europe
are invited to Board meetings to give briefings on new approaches
and issues, such as The Combined Impact of Globalization and
Transition on Women (a lecture by Marina Kokanovic, Senior Economic
Advisor of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia,
RAB meeting, March 2001, Mostar, B-H).
