Partnership in Schools Project: Algeria
Since 2005, World Learning and SIT have worked with Creative Associates under the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) in Algeria to assist the Ministry of National Education in the implementation of educational reform in the field of English as a Foreign Language as part of the Partnership in Schools Project (PSP). This project was designed to bring about systemic change, providing the Ministry and relevant stakeholders with the necessary capacity to implement reform through activities including:
- the creation of competency-based EFL curriculum at middle and high school levels
- training for curriculum developers
- training of national inspectors of EFL
- delivery of teacher training
- creation of a national online teachers’ forum
- development of a teacher competency framework
- evaluation of local EFL teaching materials
- implementation of study tours for EFL inspectors to the US and
- development of student evaluation frameworks.
Throughout these activities, World Learning employed a collaborative approach, ensuring increased Ministerial capacity for implementing system-wide educational reform.
