"Experiment" in High Gear

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (June 17, 2014) – The Experiment in International Living, the founding program of World Learning, announced today its summer plans and programs reflecting growing interest among young people in meaningful summer abroad programs focused on global issues such as the environment and human rights. The Experiment is unique in that it provides an authentic home stay, language training and practical experience in communities abroad. This summer 480 Experimenters will travel from the United States to 20 countries around the world, including Spain, France and Mexico, as well as less traditional locations like Mongolia, South Africa and Ecuador.

SIT Hosts Mobility International Training

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (June 9, 2014)The School for International Training (SIT), which is part of World Learning, hosted Cerise Roth-Vinson, chief operating officer of Mobility International (MIUSA), in Vermont June 2–4 for staff training on disability awareness as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the organizations. The training consisted of materials and discussions featuring representatives of Deaf culture, people with disabilities and advocates for disability inclusion.

School for International Training Joins Institute of International Education Coalition to Double Number of Students Who Study Abroad by End of Decade

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (June 3, 2014)The School for International Training (SIT) has pledged to join the Institute of International Education (IIE)’s Generation Study Abroad initiative to double the number of American students who study abroad by the end of the decade. The initiative is also focusing on increasing the diversity of the students who study abroad, ensuring quality, and removing barriers to participation. SIT has committed to building more than $1 million in need-based scholarship funding each year , through initiatives such as its Pell Grant Match program, to help make field-based study abroad possible for students from all socio-economic backgrounds.

Cisco Awards World Learning In-Kind Donation

WASHINGTON – (June 4, 2014) World Learning will be able to strengthen and expand its internet technology systems thanks to a recent in-kind equipment donation from Cisco Systems with a suggested retail value of $92,697.88.
