Coursework
The two semesters of on-campus coursework allow students to acquire the theoretical knowledge and develop the professional competencies that are essential for effective language teaching. To complete the ESL degree, students must complete a set of core courses and at least one elective credit. All MAT students are also required to take a Beginning Language Study course during their first semester. The tables below show a typical course of study, breakdown of credits, and elective and optional courses for this degree program. Elective and Optional CoursesStudents pursuing the ESL degree are required to take at least one elective credit and may take as many as two elective credits at no additional cost. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of optional language courses that are offered each semester.
