Master of Arts in Sustainable Development

Capstone Paper and Seminar

The culmination of the Sustainable Development degree provides students with the opportunity to analyze the accomplishment of learning objectives, demonstrate field-based competencies, and reassess theoretical knowledge in light of professional application. Researching and writing the capstone paper takes students deeply into the experiential learning cycle, where they explore the meaning of their practicum experiences, integrate theory and practice in written and oral presentations, and make a contribution to intercultural fields.

During the one-week Capstone Seminar, students demonstrate, assess, and synthesize their learning by giving a presentation to the capstone group and the SIT community, reading and critiquing colleagues’ contributions, and participating in theme-based synthesis discussions.
