This USAID funded program supports the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) in Egypt by providing full, two-year scholarships for 25 talented MOHP professionals seeking MBA degrees in healthcare management.

Designed to develop a cadre of business-minded professionals within the ministry, the FORECAST MBA program provides an opportunity for MOHP employees not only to develop their business acumen at top-ranked MBA programs, but also to get practical experience with leading U.S. based private, public and non-profit health organizations through internship experiences and community service projects.

MBA participants are selected to take part in the MBA program based on their professional expertise, leadership qualities, sense of responsibility for helping others and commitment to change. Since the program’s inception, MBA participants have consistently received accolades and awards for their academic achievements and contributions to their respective programs.

The first wave of seven participants completed MBA training and returned to their positions at MOHP in the summer of 2009. There are additional ten MOHP employees currently attending U.S. based MBA programs, and an additional eight Wave 3 participants beginning in the winter of 2011. Each MBA scholarship is for two academic years. Upon completion of the program, participants return and work with the MOHP contributing knew knowledge and experiences to improve MOHP programs, policies and procedures.

World Learning is the prime contractor for this project, subcontracting the Institute for International Education (IIE) for the Egypt-based activities including recruitment and processing, and IIE/New York places students in U.S. MBA programs. World Learning conducts all U.S. based monitoring, program administration, fulfils USAID reporting requirement, and ensures that the program objectives are met on both a professional as well as personal level for each participant.
