Spain: Language Immersion and Catalonian Adventure

Orientation in Madrid

Your adventure begins with an action-packed three- or four-day orientation in Madrid. Put your Spanish to use as you order tapas in a local café, ask for directions to the Palacio Real, and explore the city’s medieval streets. Visits to incredible museums on the "museum mile", discussions in city parks, and exploration of diverse neighborhoods strengthen your understanding of contemporary Spanish life and culture. Your orientation concludes with a full-day excursion to historic Toledo.

Language Training, Homestay, and Travel

Group on wall

After orientation, you and your group will engage in language training at a school in Granada. Using music, theater, film, city scavenger hunts, and field trips, your grasp of spoken and written Spanish soars. From Granada, your immersion into Spanish life continues with a two-week homestay in a small Spanish town. Visits to local markets and warm beaches, relaxing afternoons at local cafés, and activities with your host family give you a deeper insight into Spanish culture. Your exciting journey concludes with a week in the Pyrenees and exciting Barcelona.

Sample activities: Stroll through the beautiful gardens of the Alhambra; trek through a national park in the Pyrenees; dance the Sardana in Barcelona’s Plaça de la Seu and visit Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia.

Sample host communities: Almuñécar, Salobreña, Almeria, Garrucha
