Orientation and Arts in Buenos Aires

Spend a fast-paced week practicing your Spanish language skills in local markets, exploring diverse neighborhoods, and working with local youth to gain a deeper understanding of Argentinean life, contemporary social issues, and artistic traditions. You will visit local galleries, take part in seminars on Argentinean and Latin American photography, enjoy a workshop on pinhole photography and technique, and design your own pinhole camera. Your orientation concludes with a visit to barrio Villa 15 to take part in a project designed for local youth to use photography as a way to express the joys and challenges of their lives.

Homestay and Community Service

Following orientation, you will become part of the fabric of an Argentinean family and community during your two-week homestay. While living with a warm, engaging family, practice your Spanish language skills, learn how to cook traditional meals, and get together with friends at street-side cafés. You will also have a chance to give back to the community through a service project. Using your creativity and the skills you learned during orientation, you will conduct a series of pinhole photography workshops with local students. Before heading back to Buenos Aires, enjoy a few days camping and hiking at a rural Argentinean ranch.
