Orientation in Mexico City
Your adventure begins in historic Mexico City. Learn about Mexico’s people and its dramatic past at the Zocalo as you visit the stunning cathedral and Palacio Nacional and gaze upon the evocative murals by Diego Rivera. Develop your Spanish language skills as you visit the Museum of Anthropology or sample authentic Mexican cuisine.
Homestay and Cooking

Soak in the rich, spicy Mexican culture while learning to make mole, pozole, tamales, and a variety of traditional dishes. During your homestay, practice your Spanish while visiting local markets, handicraft workshops, and quaint historic towns, and cooking with your new family. Then spend some time with local chefs at a prestigious cooking school creating your own culinary masterpiece. Your cooking adventure continues with a week of travel with local chefs learning about regional recipes and traditional cooking methods. By the end of the program you will be able to cook a Mexican feast while you present all the dishes in Spanish!
Sample activities: Sample cactus, mamey, guanabana, and other exotic fruits; use your Spanish in local markets shopping for Talavera pottery; visit important historic and cultural sites; experiment with fresh ingredients to create your own unique mole; listen to mariachi music and dance the Jarabe Tapatio.
