Anthony Allen serves as the co-director of The Experiment in International Living, which provides high school students with dynamic experiential education programs each summer. Since joining World Learning in 1995, Allen has expanded The Experiment to include programs in 30 countries, doubled its annual enrollment from 400 to 1,000 participants, and raised $8 million for its endowment. Allen was also instrumental in expanding The Outbound Ambassador Program, a community scholarship that has sent hundreds of New York-area students abroad on The Experiment.

Before working for World Learning, Allen was the director of public affairs projects at Prep for Prep, a youth mentoring program in New York City. His more than 20 years of work in the academic and nonprofit arena include a position at the City University of New York as assistant to the dean of international programs, as well as director of volunteers at IMPACT NYC, an education program for children and families in transitional homeless shelters in New York City. He also has volunteered with the New York City Public Library’s literacy training program.

Allen received his bachelor’s degree in government and third world studies from Oberlin College, and a master’s in public policy at the City University of New York. He lives with his wife and two children in Montclair, New Jersey.
