John Meislin
Co-Director, The Experiment in International Living
John Meislin is the co-director of The Experiment in International Living, which provides high school students with dynamic experiential education programs each summer. Since joining World Learning in 1990, Meislin has expanded The Experiment’s global reach by forging partnerships with leading nonprofit organizations in Western Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. During this time, Meislin also developed theme-based programs such as culinary arts, dance, and ecology.
Meislin's first exposure to World Learning was through his mother, a 1948 Experimenter, who encouraged him to go on his own Experiment to France in 1976. He went on to lead 16 groups to France and Italy as a group leader for The Experiment, making him the longest-serving group leader in the history of the organization. Prior to joining World Learning, Meislin spent more than 10 years working in education and youth development, serving as a volunteer curriculum developer of the Street Law Program within Minneapolis Public Schools. He also worked as a teacher of government at Woods Academy.
Meislin received his bachelor’s degree in French literature from Oberlin College and holds a juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota. He lives in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.
