Program Partners

Students visit the UN in Geneva

Our programs rely heavily on partners within our host communities. SIT Study Abroad often works with local universities, which may provide classroom space, lecturers for the thematic seminar, language teaching support, or administrative assistance. Other partners include international and local nongovernmental organizations, community-based organizations, research institutions, and local schools, hospitals and clinics. These program partners offer human resources, academic and logistical support, and student support. In addition to program activities, these organizations also spend countless hours with students, often acting as Independent Study Project advisors to provide a rare opportunity to explore local issues with local contacts.

We consider institutions sending us students to be our partners in education. We receive students from approximately 200 schools each year, including public and private institutions, large research universities, and small private liberal arts colleges. We value these connections, and we believe that student learning is enhanced by having students with a wide variety of educational experiences on each program.

SIT has also established a smaller group of university-based colleagues in our Partnership Council. The SIT Study Abroad Partnership Council provides additional perspectives and expertise on the design, delivery, and assessment of our field-based programs and their integration into undergraduate curricula.

See below for a more complete list of sending institutions, as well as a list of our Partnership Council membership.
