Recall Policy

Recalls on loaned materials may only be placed by library staff.  All materials are subject to recall at any time and must be returned within 3 days of recall notification. We make every attempt to only recall materials that are needed for course reserve.

Fines:

Borrowers will be billed for lost materials.  For students, charges will be added to the student’s institutional account.  Once charges are added to the institutional account, they must be paid whether or not materials are returned.

Patrons may not check out additional material if they have fines on their account without supervisor’s approval.

Reserve Materials:

Reserve book lists can be located through the online catalog by clicking on the "Course Reserves" option and entering a search.

Loan periods for reserve items are determined by individual faculty.  Materials are generally loaned for 2 hours or overnight.  Please note that overnight loans are due by 9am the following day.

Interlibrary Loan:

The library provides interlibrary loan services to all current SIT faculty, staff and students.  Interlibrary loan makes it possible for our patrons to request materials that are not held in our own collections.  For more details, please see the Interlibrary Loan Policy page.

Patrons can use their Interlibrary Loan accounts online to submit requests and to retrieve articles that are delivered electronically. To access the Interlibrary Loan service, click here and enter your barcode and last name.  You may need to initiate your account and update your profile information the first time you log in.

Confidentiality:

United States federal law dictates that we may not divulge names of borrowers using specific material for any reason.  It is our policy to comply with this law.
