Apply to Viet Nam: Ecology and Sustainability in the Mekong Delta

  • Before you submit any application forms, be sure to seek the advice of your school's study abroad advisor or your academic advisor.
  • Please note that we will not review your application until we have received all of the application materials (listed below.)
  • Applications can be submitted starting January 15 for all fall and summer programs, and April 15 for spring programs. After these opening dates, complete applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Many programs fill prior to the stated application deadline, so early applicants are most likely to be considered for their first choice program.

Visa Alert!
According to the terms of the visa for this program, students are not permitted to arrive before the program starts. In addition, students should plan to be in the United States for the two months prior to the program in order to process this visa. Please contact the SIT Study Abroad Coordinator for more information.

Application Deadlines
While programs may fill at any time, applications for this program will not be accepted after the application deadline of May 15 for the fall semester and November 15 for the spring semester.

Admissions Criteria
SIT Study Abroad welcomes applications for this program from undergraduate students in good academic standing at any college or university. Students should have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and should have completed at least one year of college-level coursework at the time of application.

Opening Dates
We review complete applications after the opening date, as follows:

  • January 15th for fall and summer program applications, and
  • April 15th for spring program applications.

Complete applications received prior to the opening date will be reviewed after the opening date has passed. Information on application status and missing items will not be available until after the opening date for the term under review.

What Happens Next

Once we have received all of the above-mentioned materials, our admissions committee will review your application. You may be contacted by SIT Study Abroad to discuss your application or to request additional information. Offers of admission are generally made within three weeks. You will then have two weeks to reserve your space in the program by submitting the appropriate confirmation materials. The confirmation materials will include medical forms, a $400 non-refundable deposit, visa materials if applicable, and other items specific to your program. Scholarships and Financial Aid
You can apply for SIT Study Abroad scholarships at any point before the application deadline. Scholarship decisions will be made shortly after your program's application deadline. Financial aid may be available depending on the policies of your home institution.

Disabilities/Special Services
Federal law prohibits us from making pre-admission inquiry about disabilities. Any information received regarding disabilities will be kept in strict confidence and will not adversely affect admissions decisions. If you require special services because of a disability, you should notify the SIT Study Abroad office in writing. SIT Study Abroad makes every effort to provide programs that are accessible to all. Without having such information at least 60 days prior to the program, we cannot ensure appropriate support services to facilitate your learning.

Medical Report
The required confirmation materials include a medical report which must be filled out by your physician. To avoid any delays, make an appointment with your physician at the time you submit your application.

Passport
Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the completion of the program. If yours will expire before this date, or if you do not have a passport, you should apply for one immediately. It can take six to eight weeks to receive a new passport, so if you are applying close to the SIT Study Abroad application deadline, please contact us to determine whether you will need to expedite your passport application.
