World Learning Fellows Program

Turn your international experience into social action

The World Learning Fellows Program turns awareness into social action by offering our alums tools to put their global understanding to work. The project will help students bring their World Learning/ SIT experience back to their campus. Active and engaged young global leaders will be selected as World Learning Fellows. Once accepted into the program, they will create and implement an action plan on their respective college campuses and/or communities. Selected Fellows will be leaders in helping other World Learning alumni and students on their campuses engage in issues of social and global change.

What do Fellows do?

The Fellows Project Theme: Understanding the Role of the US in the World

  • Fellows will focus on communicating the importance of understanding global realities in order to properly address social issues.
  • Fellows will work on helping others understand the importance of global understanding and intercultural awareness in addressing global issues. Action plans will raise awareness around global issues.
  • Fellows’ work will focus on educating others on their campus and in their communities on the importance of fully understanding the role that the US, and each individual, can play in the global landscape.

Fellows will accomplish these goals by:

  • Developing an action plan to raise awareness around global issues. The action plan will follow a similar model to SIT Study Abroad's Independent Study Project (ISP). Students choose the project of their choice. They then analyze campus and community resources in order to create an action plan that is relevant to their campus needs, interests and resources.
  • Implementing the action plan in collaboration with World Learning/SIT, their University and other students on their campuses.
  • Connecting and developing partnerships with other on-campus or community groups interested in global issues. These partnerships are key in helping to mobilize other individuals towards a shared vision of global understanding and global awareness.
