World Learning Photo Contest

Stay tuned for details about the 2012 Photo Contest

Photo submission and voting deadlines for 2011 have passed. 

Thank you to everyone who submitted photos for the 2011 World Learning photo contest. We had nearly twice as many participants submit photos this year as last year with a 65% increase in photo submissions! And, thank you to everyone who voted. We had more than 2,100 individuals vote for their favorite photo.

We narrowed the field to a handful of finalists and you chose the winner of the 2011 Viewers’ Choice Award. Read more about the winning submissions at the World Learning NOW blog.

Photo criteria included:

  • Embodies the sense of community our students feel while abroad
  • Portrays the hospitality of host communities
  • Reminds you of an excursion that broadened your horizons
  • Evokes the unique sense of place that was home for a short but transformative time
  • Encompasses the hope and inspiration of our programs
  • Honors the historic impact of The Experiment and World Learning


Photo Contest Prizes include:

Viewers Choice Grand Prize and 2nd place winners: 
includes $500 and $300 in travel vouchers, respectively.

Category winners: may include world music CDs, World Learning tote bags, water bottles, or other World Learning goodies.

The World Learning community chose the photos that best represent World Learning's mission of creating a more peaceful and just world. Winners were announced in August.

Stay tuned for photo galleries of contest submissions. Throughout the year, we will be posting photo galleries of the photo contest entries. We'd love to hear your thoughts on how these photos remind you of your time during one of our programs.
