Samira Selle, Academic Director
Ms. Selle holds a M.A. in Middle Eastern studies and political science from the University of Leipzig (Germany), where her studies focused on contemporary developments in political participation in the Middle East, as well as EU-Mediterranean relations. Her M.A. thesis was based on field research in Yemen on Adeni socialist women activists' political participation after Yemeni unification.
Ms. Selle has worked with SIT Study Abroad in Oman since 2007, and served as thematic seminar coordinator in Spring 2008 semester.
With family ties to Yemen, Ms. Selle has always had a strong relationship with Southern Arabia, and extensive exchange visits to Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Oman and the UAE. Since coming to Muscat with her Omani husband in 2006, her main fields of interest have been changes in traditional gender roles and women’s participation in public life. She is fluent in German, Arabic, French and English.
