Andrew Benedict Wyatt, Academic Director
Andrew is an Australian national who has over 10 years of research experience in the Mekong Region. He has a B.Sc. from Macquarie University with a 1st class Honours in Geography (Natural Resource Management) from The University of Sydney. He completed his Ph.D. in Geography (Political Ecology) at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney, in 2004. Between 2001 and 2006, he was an Associate Lecturer in the School of Geosciences and the Research Program Manager of the Australian Mekong Resource Centre, University of Sydney. Since 2003, Andrew has been living and working in Vietnam as a researcher, much of that time based in the Mekong Delta at Can Tho University. He has worked in Vietnam as a Technical Advisor to a number of rural development projects, worked as an independent consultant evaluating development-aid projects, and currently holds a number of advisory positions with government and non-government agencies in Vietnam and Cambodia. Andrew’s research interests include the Political Ecology of the Mekong, Integrated Water Resources Management, Trans-Boundary Impact Assessments, Community-Based Natural Resource Management, and Integrated Biodiversity Conservation and Community Development. Andrew has published in international journals such as International Journal for Water Resources Development and was a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change 4th Assessment Report, 2007.
