Bernard joined World Learning in March 2006 from Microsoft Corporation, where he most recently worked on projects designed to bring technology to people in developing countries, specifically through the distribution of low-cost PCs. During his seven-year tenure at Microsoft, Bernard held a number of globally-focused consumer marketing and communications positions. He was on teams that helped launch Xbox, Xbox Live and the first generation of Portable Media Centers in North America, Europe and Asia.
Before joining Microsoft, Bernard spent eight years in a variety of marketing, public relations and communications roles in Chicago, including four years managing global accounts (DaimlerChrylser, Michelin, Owens-Corning) at Golin-Harris International Public Relations. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and a minor in history. Bernard lived in Kenya for six years and has traveled extensively in Africa, Asia and Europe. He lives with his wife and daughter in Guilford, Vermont.
