Vanessa Nichol Peters, Academic Director
Vanessa Nichol Peters is Zimbabwean by birth, South African by descent, and American by naturalization. Ms. Nichol Peters received a BA from the University of Zimbabwe, and an MBA from Ohio University. She has worked in the fields of Micro-Enterprise Development, Education and Training in the United States, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, with organizations such as the Association of Women's Clubs and the Organization of Rural Associations for Progress in Zimbabwe; the South African Management Development Institute, and the University of Venda in South Africa; and the Small Business Development Center of Southeastern Ohio in the United States. Vanessa worked previously with SIT in its Zimbabwe: Grassroots Development and NGO Management program, as well as on the home campus of SIT in Brattleboro, where she worked in International Compliance and Operations. Vanessa has been Academic Director of the South Africa: Reconciliation and Development semester program since the fall of 2003 and the South Africa: Education and Social Change summer program since the summer of 2005.
