South Africa: Education and Social Change
Program Highlights
Education Practicum and Integrated Theory and Practice
Students have countless opportunities to observe education on this program. During the Education Practicum, students are encouraged to integrate theory and practice and to develop the field skills to analyze what they observe. Visits include primary schools, secondary schools, adult formal and informal education, and other educational initiatives.
Dynamic Coursework
Because the coursework in this program is based on an experiential education model, students will themselves be learning by doing. The program is designed to provide variety of perspectives and realities. Students travel often; meet experts, students, and families; and broaden their theoretical knowledge all at once.
Diverse Homestays
By living in three different homestays and getting to know three families, students can explore the values, opportunities, and challenges surrounding education. The homestay experience is often one of the most rewarding and challenges portions of the program – with three different experiences, students are exposed to a broad range of lifestyles and cultures within South Africa.
