Ghana: History and Cultures of the African Diaspora
Coursework
In this interdisciplinary program, the thematic seminar addresses the larger issues in the subject of migration and specifically focuses on the area of forced migration of peoples of African descent across the Atlantic Ocean. It pays specific attention to the possible sites where people were taken and examines both cultural (material and intangible) manifestations of this experience. The Field Study Seminar addresses culturally appropriate, ethical field methodology in the context of migration issues, in preparation for the Independent Study Project (ISP). Study of Fante opens windows into the culture and the theme of the program.
The following syllabi are either from a recent session of this program or for an upcoming session. Because courses develop and change over time to take advantage of dynamic learning opportunities, actual course content will vary from term to term.
The syllabi can be useful for students, faculty, and study abroad offices in assessing credit transfer. Read more about credit transfer.
