Campus Demographics

SIT Graduate Institute’s diverse learning community includes students from more than 35 countries. In recent years international students have comprised 29 percent of the Academic Year Master of Arts in Teaching classes, 34 percent of the Summer Master of Arts in Teaching classes, and 29 percent of the Program in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management classes. In addition to citizenship, below are some other characteristics of our student body.

Approximately 27 percent of our students come from countries other than the United States and are typically divided among Asia, Africa, Europe, and other parts of the Americas. About 15 percent of SIT Graduate Institute’s US students identify themselves as being of African or Asian descent, as Hispanic, or as a combination of ethnicities. About 77 percent of SIT Graduate Institute students are female. While the average age is 33, students range from anywhere from mid 20s to mid 60s. In recent years, about half of the students have been in their 20s. Virtually all have experience living in a culture other than their own.
