World Learning Expands Study Abroad Programs with IHP

WASHINGTON (May 25, 2010) -- World Learning is pleased to welcome the International Honors Program to its family of educational programs, which transform the lives of thousands of young people each year and equip them to succeed in today's globalized world.

"World Learning is thrilled to provide a home on its global platform for IHP," said Adam Weinberg, World Learning president and CEO. "IHP brings an impressive international network, dedicated leadership and strong study abroad opportunities that complement our roster of high-quality programs."

IHP joins World Learning after three years of successful collaboration between the two nongovernmental organizations. Both offer study abroad programs that address critical global issues, offer a high degree of academic rigor and provide opportunities to live with host families and interact with young people in host countries.

Operating in collaboration with World Learning's SIT Study Abroad, IHP will continue to offer comparative programs on multiple continents, such as Rethinking Globalization which takes students to Tanzania, New Zealand, India and Mexico over the course of two semesters. IHP also offers one-semester comparative programs such as Cities in the 21st Century and Health and Community. World Learning's global infrastructure will give IHP an opportunity to develop new kinds of programs that build on its 50 years of experience in the international education field.

"We believe this is an excellent partnership for IHP as a small study abroad provider to become part of a larger, like-minded organization," said Joan Tiffany, IHP senior director and president. "World Learning's mission to provide programs that empower people to create a more peaceful and just world is a perfect fit with IHP's commitment to the environment and social justice."
