Australia: Sustainability and the Environment

Peter Brennan, Academic Director

Peter Brennan, an Australian national, did his undergraduate work at the University of Queensland at Brisbane with an emphasis on the vegetation change on the islands of the Great Barrier Reef.  He then traveled to the University of Auckland, in New Zealand, to teach Physical Geography and Resource Management before pursuing a PhD. at the University of Hawaii under an East-West Center scholarship.  Mr. Brennan's dissertation was a study of the effects of forest fragmentation of the rainforest communities in Central Queensland.  Mr. Brennan was an Academic Director of the SIT Study Abroad program in Cairns, Australia from 1993-1997.  Prior to starting this program in fall 2000, he worked as a consultant ecologist and environmental planner for a company based near Byron Bay. This will be the fifteenth semester of this program under Dr. Brennan's leadership.
