SIT Graduate Institute Accepting Applications for Summer Peacebuilding Program

BRATTLEBORO, VT (March 1, 2010) -- Peacebuilders who want to further develop their professional skills are invited to apply for this summer's Conflict Transformation Across Cultures, or CONTACT, program offered by World Learning's SIT Graduate Institute.

Candidates selected for the program held May 31-June 18 will participate in an intensive professional development course that covers conflict analysis, interventions and strategies for use in protracted conflicts, and the essential tools of peacebuilding such as dialogue, mediation and training. During the program's final week, participants chose from one of three courses to attend:

Professionals working in the field and those who plan pursue a graduate degree in conflict transformation are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is April 15, 2010.

Over the last 14 years, CONTACT has trained peacebuilders from more than 60 countries around the world including Afghanistan, Bosnia, Liberia, Iraq, India and the United States. Some of the program's prominent former students include Nobel Peace Prize nominee Shelley Anderson of the United States and former foes, Rev. James Movel Wuye and Imam Muhammed Nurayn Ashafa, both of Nigeria. Read more about the program, its faculty and alumni.
