(February 24, 2010) -- US Congressman Earl Pomeroy of North Dakota was the guest of honor at a reception in Serbia February 20 that reunited him with host families from his 1973 Experiment in International Living to the former Yugoslavia.
More than 60 people attended the event in the town of Kraljevo, including the town's mayor and Jennifer Brush, deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Belgrade and also a former 1973 Experimenter. Local press gave wide coverage to the event.

Pomeroy hugged the host families in attendance and spent part of his time looking at photos they brought to the reception. He reminisced about his Experiment and said coming back to Serbia was a bit like "being at home again." He added that he hoped that the friendship between Serbia and the United States would continue to grow.
Representing World Learning was Mary Fran Doyle, country director for World Learning's FORECAST program in Serbia and Montenegro. Pomeroy talked with Doyle and FORECAST exchange student Djordje Pekovic of Kraljevo about the program that brings students to US universities for one year of undergraduate, non-degree study.
