At a Glance: World Learning and HIV/AIDS

World Learning Ethiopia team

World Learning recognizes that preventing new HIV infections is of vital importance to curbing the spread of AIDS. Our prevention efforts range from information, education and communication activities to more complex behavioral interventions that support individuals and communities to adopt and maintain healthy behaviors.  Read more about World Learning’s HIV/AIDS Programs.

We also invest our expertise and resources to address the diverse needs of at-risk populations, reduce socio-economic vulnerability and help create enabling environments. We work closely with government, private and nongovernmental organizations to develop policies, create referral networks, and strengthen community support systems that facilitate access to care and treatment when required.

Finally, addressing the complex problem of HIV/AIDS requires multi-sectored interventions. World Learning brings together its expertise from several sectors—including education, civil society, and human and institutional capacity building—to effectively reach the most at-risk populations and underserved groups. World Learning’s HIV/AIDS interventions aim to counter social stigma, strengthen institutional capacity, offer alternatives to risky behaviors, and to provide the support needed to reduce the vulnerability of individuals and enhance the collective ability of communities to protect their members.
