World AIDS Day 2009

Working Together banner

World Learning joins the international community in marking World AIDS Day on December 1. An estimated 33 million people worldwide are living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. As the AIDS epidemic evolves, targeted prevention programs are needed more than ever.

World AIDS Day is an important opportunity to remember that the impact of the AIDS epidemic extends far beyond health, colliding with almost every sector of society. HIV/AIDS increases the vulnerability of children, undermines the socioeconomic stability of families and diminishes the capacity of communities to protect their members.
