Disenfranchised Groups
World Learning identifies in-country partners and seeks out the hardest-to-reach groups and communities – often the most remote, rural and poor, and therefore largely unheard. Because those who are most affected by development problems usually have the best perspective on what solutions will work for them, World Learning listens to its partners' views and tailors training and technical assistance programs for them.
World Learning works with grassroots groups to better understand the social challenges communities face. Often this means partnering with those people who are largely excluded from public decision-making processes, namely the poor, minority groups, and especially women and children. Equipped with an understanding of partners' needs and desires, World Learning provides the logistical, technical, training, and moral support necessary to present a community’s views to those in power and fight for the transparent governance and recognition they deserve. World Learning promotes the advancement of members of disenfranchised groups as leaders across civil society, government, and business sectors.
