Youth Exchange and Leadership Programs

Past Youth Exchanges

American Exchange to Serbia, March 22 – April 3, 2008

This program is the fifth and final exchange program for the 2007 Serbia Youth Leadership Program. Eight American students and two adult educators from Denver, Colorado; Huntsville, Alabama; Seattle, Washington; and Tulsa, Oklahoma will participate in a short-term exchange program in Serbia. Participants will visit Belgrade and do homestays in the Senta, Kikinda, Prijeploje, Belgrade and Bajina Basta with the alumni participants from Exchanges 1, 2 and 3 who participated in the U.S. based programs.

Jordan Youth Sports Exchange, January 20 – 30, 2008

The Jordan Youth Sports Exchange program will bring ten students between the ages of 12-16, and three adults to the U.S. for a ten-day program focused on the Presidential Challenge Activities as well as sports and health management. The majority of their ten days will be spent in Washington, DC with a day in Delaware at the University of Delaware. The ten participants have been chosen due to their success on the newly created equivalent of the U.S. Presidential Challenge in Jordan.

Brazil Youth Ambassador Program 2008, January 12 – 26, 2008

The 2008 Brazil Youth Ambassadors program will bring thirty-five participants for a two-week exchange. The program will take place in Washington D.C. with segments in Bozeman, Montana; Charlotte, North Carolina, Cleveland, Ohio, Kalamazoo, Michigan; Seattle, Washington and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rwanda Youth Leadership Program, Nov 25 – Dec 19, 2007

The program is designed for eighteen young emerging leaders and three adult mentors in Rwanda to develop civic responsibility and commitment to community development among youth so as to strengthen civil society and the democratic process. The Program will take place in Washington D.C., and Huntsville, Alabama.

Lebanese Youth Basketball Program, 2007

During the two-week Youth Basketball Program in Las Vegas, NE and Washington, DC, Lebanese students focus on sportsmanship, teamwork and improved their leadership skills. The participants saw their basketball idols play in the International Basketball Federation qualifier games.

Serbia Youth Leadership Program, 2007

As participants in the Serbia Youth Leadership Program, Serbian youth study such themes as grassroots activism, ethnic tolerance, rule of law, religious freedom, the role of local and municipal governments, and student government.

Brazil Youth Ambassadors, January 13 – 27, 2007

The Brazil Youth Ambassadors program is a two-week exchange in which Brazilian high school students learn about U.S. society and government, visit historical sites, participate in interactive and experiential activities, and attend local high schools with their host brother or sister.

Global Neighbor Youth Delegation Program, June 10 – 24, 2006

The Global Neighbor Youth Delegation Program coincided with the FIFA World Cup 2006. The program consisted of the U.S. exchange program in Washington, DC and New York City, and attendance at a World Cup match in Nuremberg, Germany.

ACCESS Serbia, April 3 – May 1, 2004

In "ACCESS to Community and Civic Enrichment for Students: Serbia," Serbian youth focused on civic participation, appreciation of ethnic diversity, and youth leadership.
