Answers To Most Commonly Asked Billing Questions
Financial Aid Information:
Enclosed, please find a Financial Aid Information Sheet. This only needs to be used for students who are receiving aid from their home institutions. (Financial Aid includes all student loans.) This form must be completed by the home school and returned to us by July 1. It can be faxed to us at 802.258.3540. Students receiving aid through outside sources must provide us written documentation from that source. It must tell us the NET amount of aid and the date of payment. Please deduct the total NET amount of your aid from your bill. The remaining amount is due by July 15. Students should also double check with their home institution’s Financial Aid Office before leaving the country to ensure that all paperwork is complete. This will avoid delays if the school is missing the student’s signature on any loan documents.
Financial Aid and Split Billing:
Some schools have established an agreement to bill them for tuition or tuition and room/board. If the student’s balance due to SIT Study Abroad/World Learning is for room/board and travel or just travel, then any financial aid will be used by the home school for their billing. If you expect there to be a surplus of aid, and you want to use it to defer all or part of your balance due to SIT Study Abroad/World Learning, then you will need to have your home institution send information regarding the surplus. If this is the case, do not use the Financial Aid Information Sheet, Instead, please request that the school fax a letter stating the surplus amount, date of expected disbursement, and to whom it will be disbursed. This fax may be sent to 802.258.3540.
Travel:
Students not traveling with the group must contact Lyon Travel at 800.480.0516 or 802.254.6033. You are responsible for the travel amount and your bill will not be credited until we receive written notification from Lyon Travel.
*Airfares shown are estimates based on current amounts quoted for the group flight including fuel surcharges. Due to the extreme volatility of airline industry pricing, SIT Study Abroad/World Learning will send an updated invoice at the time of ticketing for any remaining balance resulting from actual airfares being higher than these estimates. Airlines reserve the right to increase fares due to fuel surcharges, taxes, or other charges, and we must pass these increases along to the party responsible for payment. If the student opts not to take the group flight, the amount(s) billed for international airfare will be credited.
Forms of Payment:
Credit card payments and convenience fees: The SIT Study Abroad/World Learning ordinary payment method is by check, but as a convenience, we offer the choice of credit card payments by Master Card or Visa, with a flat convenience fee of $50 per transaction for payment of tuition, room and board, or airfare. Please complete and return the upper portion of the invoice with your card details. You may also call with your credit card payment. (Information can be left on voice mail 802-258-3520. It is completely confidential.)

All payments done through a checking account either online, over the telephone or through the mail will be processed electronically, and funds are typically deducted from your checking account within 24 hours. If you do not want us to process your check electronically, please let us know by emailing student.accounts@worldlearning.org, or calling us at 802.258.3520.
Payment Plans:
We do not offer payment plans. All balances are due by July 15 (except Financial Aid). If you are in need of financial assistance please contact Key Education Resources at 800.225.6783. They may be able to offer low interest rate loans.
