Spain: Language Immersion in Andalucia

Orientation in Madrid

Participants in Spain

Your adventure begins with an action-packed three- or four-day orientation in Madrid. Put your Spanish to use as you order tapas in a local café, ask for directions to the Palacio Real, and explore the city’s medieval streets. Visits to incredible museums on the "museum mile," discussions in city parks, and exploration of diverse neighborhoods strengthen your understanding of contemporary Spanish life and culture. Your orientation concludes with a full-day excursion to historic Toledo.

Language Training and Homestay

Participant group in village

From Madrid and Toledo, voyage into the vibrant Spanish province of Andalucia for hands-on language training and cultural immersion. For 10 days, the magnificent city of Cordoba becomes your classroom. Study with a small group of students in a language school that welcomes beginning- and intermediate- level students. Four hours of language instruction per weekday focus on conversational skills, grammar, and Spanish culture and society. Cultural activities, music, theater, and excursions help put your language learning to use. Following language training, head off to your host community to meet your new family! Practice your Spanish in plazas, cafés, markets, and at home—your host family will help and encourage you!

Sample activities: Visit the Andalusian cities of Granada or Malaga; swim in the Mediterranean; participate in street festivals or parades; take in a guitar and flamenco show.

Sample host communities: Guadix, Priego de Cordoba, Salobreña, Almuñécar
