SIT Graduate Institute Announces New Master of Global Management Program in Oman

Innovative program will bring together US, Omani, and international students to develop 21st-century global management and leadership skills.

BRATTLEBORO, VT (September 02, 2008) -- SIT Graduate Institute, the accredited graduate institution of World Learning, is pleased to announce and welcome applications for its new Master of Global Management (MGM) degree program, which will begin in the Sultanate of Oman in September 2009. The program will offer US, Omani, and international students an opportunity to develop global management skills and competencies applicable to leadership roles in multiple international sectors. World Learning’s center in the international crossroads of Oman provides a culturally rich and academically engaging context for exploring the dynamics of the global marketplace.

"This exciting program draws on our 75 years of experience in experiential international education," said Adam Weinberg, Provost of SIT and Executive Vice President of World Learning. "We want to turn out a new generation of organizational leaders committed to the principles of  social responsibility, sustainability and intercultural understanding."

The MGM curriculum, taught by a faculty from the US, Middle East, and other countries, presents a well-rounded and balanced approach to managing 21st century organizations. It enables students to develop a solid foundation in a number of functional specialties while examining the nature of globalization and its implications for the effective and responsible management of people and organizations in an increasingly interconnected world. The program culminates with a Capstone Project in which teams of students apply their learning within an Omani organization.

Students participating in the MGM degree program will benefit from SIT’s proven experiential learning techniques and gain critical competencies in a number of key areas, including:

  • Global Management and Leadership – The capacity to lead and inspire multicultural teams, departments and organizations in an international environment
  • Core Management Practice – Knowledge and skills in finance, marketing, strategic management, economics and information technology necessary for managing a successful global enterprise
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation – The ability to think creatively about strategic commercial, organizational, and community development challenges and opportunities
  • Language and Linguistic Skills – Proficiency in Arabic with English as the language of instruction

The MGM degree is designed to be completed by full-time students in 12-months and by part-time students in 22 months.
