Funding Study Abroad

Choosing a study abroad program is a big decision, and a big financial commitment – but worth every penny.  Don’t despair – there are many available options that make a study abroad experience affordable, and SIT Study Abroad is committed to helping families finance the study abroad experience.

Here are some key things for parents to consider:

  1. Many home colleges and universities have billing agreements with SIT Study Abroad. Students and parents should learn more from the school’s study abroad or financial aid office to make sure they understand all of the costs involved and support available.
  2. Many home colleges and universities may transfer school and/or federal financial aid towards an SIT program.
  3. Scholarships are available through SIT Study Abroad (for SIT participants only) and external providers as well.
  4. Students and their parents may be eligible for special educational loans that will also provide assistance.

Read more about scholarships and financial aid resources.

To help students plan financially for their program, SIT Study Abroad provides list of fees associated with the program, including program fees and personal fees.  Students should also plan for the costs of a doctor visit and some immunizations that may not be covered by health insurance.

Fees are listed on each individual program page.
